Bio: Bruce grew up in Los angles but didn't get in to diving until he moved to Colorado. (go figure)
Cold winters make people vacation in the tropics where he was introduced to the underwater realm by his wife, Jan in 1998.
In Durango, he owned an architectural blacksmith shop, freelanced in computer graphics and video editing and founded a school of west african drumming," tamtam mandingue".
Bruce also pursued a growing interest in scuba, which developed into a career. He became a PADI instructor in 2002 and a master scuba diver trainer in 2004, specializing in underwater video.
It was in May of '04 that bruce and Jan embarked on a two year trip around the world, teaching diving and doing underwater video and photography. After working several months in Fiji, they hired onto the private sailing yacht "londine" on a 4,500 nautical mile dive journey to Vanuatu, Papua new guinea, the eastern fields, Australia and finally Bali. After traveling overland through Malaysia, They found work at Simalin Scuba in Kaoh Lak, Thailand until the tsunami destroyed much of the town and its inhabitants. A narrow escape on the back of a motorcycle saw them uninjured, but all of there possessions were lost. They remained in Thailand for another 3 months and worked at the tsunami volunteer center until returning to the states to re-gear.
After two months of underwater filming in Palau, Bruce chose the Big Island of Hawaii as the next place to settle down. He takes great pleasure in meeting new people and sharing his love of diving with them. |
