JDL Kids' Camps to get "Boost"

You may be familiar with the Malama Kai Foundation (MKF).  That's the non-profit best-known for its support of Hawaii's Day-Use Mooring Buoy Program, Reef Talks, and Ocean Warriors.  You may have even donated to help protect our reefs.  Now, there's another way that MKF is helping our community!

Kids, ages 6-18, who wish to participate in Jack's Diving Locker's (JDL) award winning line-up of snorkel and scuba camps, will soon be able to apply for scholarships through Malama Kai Foundation.  MKF has just received a grant from the County of Hawaii to fund these scholarships, and JDL is one of two vendors who will provide the ocean-related classes for youth.  The other vendor working alongside JDL is the Nakoa Foundation, which will offer day-camps based on sailing, and Hawaiian culture and language.  The funding for the program comes from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

Jack's Diving Locker recognized that with the uncertainty of the upcoming school year, some kids could use structured activities to supliment their new and ever-changing acedemic schedule.  We also understand that for many on the island, money is tight.  We wanted to be able to provide these opportunities for anyone who was interested, regardless of financial abilities. We turned to the Malama Kai Foundation and partnered with the Nakoa Foundation to apply for this community grant.  JDL will be providing Keiki, Sea Camps, and PADI Scuba Certification camps for either a full week at a time, or 1-day a week camps for those who need more flexibility.  

Once the mechanism for applying for the scholarships is announced by Malama Kai Foundation, we will publish the information on our website.  The information is expected by the end of August.
