Chef de Cuisine
Bio: Born in Meriden, Ct. Michael has lived in N.H., Mass., San Diego, Marin, and Santa Cruz. Mongo worked as a chef for a number of years. He took a three year hiatus to tour with The Grateful Dead, yeah he’s a Deadhead.
Mongo settled down in the Santa Cruz Mountains where he owned a Health Food Store, Bakery, Cafe and Catering Company. He became a NAUI diver in 1999. He showed up at JDL in 2005 for his first Hawaiian vacation and after diving for three weeks heard Jeff say “a lot people come and become dive masters and stay on and work for us”, this was music to his ears.
Mongo became a PADI OW Instructor in 2007 and worked seasonally at JDL until 2010 when he moved to Hawaii and became a full time Kona resident. Mongo is now an accomplished underwater videographer. He contributes this latest passon to Jeff and Keller stating “I learned underwater videography from a couple of the best in Hawaii – Jeff and Keller”.
