Susan started diving in 1990 when she and her boyfriend David got certified to dive for their honeymoon in Hawaii. After that first breath underwater, they were hooked. Every vacation turned into a dive trip, and Susan and David were fortunate to travel to some amazing places (Bonaire, Fiji, Palau, Truk, Cocos, Galapagos, Lembeh, Komodo and, of course Kona). After a spectacular cenote tour in the Riviera Maya, they also became certified as cave divers.
In 2000, Susan and David “took the plunge” and became PADI instructors. While they grew to love diving in Boston (and the lobster feasts that followed), they started returning more frequently to Kona and planning for a warm water “retirement.” In 2014, they were finally ready to leave their desk jobs (Susan in the non-profit health care world and David in biotech) and make the big move.
After a cross-country road trip adventure with their two rescue dogs (Maui the Lab and Watson the Basset Hound), Susan and David arrived in Kona and immediately started pestering Teri for jobs. One month to the day later, they became Jack’s employees.
Susan and David are loving their lives in Hawaii, and the dogs are happy that they can now go out the “sunny door” almost every day. Come dive with us soon!
